New Book Added to Free Stuff Page
Written by David Dunn on June 30, 2008 – 7:31 pmI’ve just added a new addition to the Free Stuff page. This book was a one I got for my Mam to read and now she has read it I’m giving it away on Buy Me A Ferrari.
To claim this book just follow the normal procedure, and can I just take the time to reiterate that as much as a donation would be very kind, it is definitely not required to claim free stuff from Buy Me A Ferrari.
The book in question is in paperback and is in very good condition, the only problem being a creased spine. Still in very much readable condition.

Entering Competitions
Written by David Dunn on June 29, 2008 – 12:59 pmAs this blog is a little more personal than it was before I now feel as though I can talk about things I am doing rather than just stuff to do with making money.
So I now want to introduce something that I used to do quite regularly but stopped just recently. What I am talking about is entering competitions (if you hadn’t already guessed by the title of the post).
I used to be online daily to enter competitions but I just don’t seem to make the time for it anymore. This is going to change as I could realistically make money by entering competitions or better still save money by winning the stuff that I would alternatively be buying.
One place I have used for years is Loquax. Loquax is a competition portal and links to loads and loads of great competitions some of which I have won over the years (nothing too special yet though).
Another site which I have came across is UK Wins. I find that this site is also a great competition portal and I quite like the way in which the competitions are listed on there.
I’m now going to enter a load of competitions - wish me luck people! Also, seen as both the competition on here and the one on FerrariDave has been a bit of a flop, I think I am not going to bother with it. Stay tuned for a better competition very soon though and I have an idea whereby there will need to be enough people entering.

Ideas for Domain Names
Written by David Dunn on January 28, 2008 – 10:39 pmIn a recent article, I touched on the fact that I have a few ideas that need to be developed. I have most of the domains for ideas that I have, here are some of the ideas along with the domain name. If you are interested in domain names I’m unlikely to get round to doing all of these so I can sell any of them at a suitable price.
If you are interested, please drop me an email.
Here’s the ideas along with the domain names:
YourAppleTV.com
Possibly thinking about having a blog dedicated to the Apple TV or have some sort of community website or gallery where people can show and talk about their Apple TV setups. I may be more likely to sell this as it is pretty low priority in terms of what I have planned.
CarSnap.co.uk
I’m thinking or maybe having either a gallery website where car owners can upload photos of their cars, or, a forum where people can discuss motoring related topics and post photographs of their cars.
911Owner.co.uk
Might have some sort of club and/or message boards where Porsche owners and enthusiasts can talk about their cars or just Porsches in general.
AuctionForum.info
I did intend to have a forum set up that had auctions on. I am now more likely to sell this rather than actually develop it although you never know.
TopWords.co.uk
I have absolutely no idea what I was going to stick on this one, purchased it a while back now and originally though of something along the lines of Million Dollar Homepage but instead of pixels have words. However, I believe this sort of idea is already out and about on the internet.
WiiBoom.com
Again, thinking about maybe having a blog that discusses the Nintendo Wii and games that are being released for the Wii. However, I don’t have a Wii at the moment and don’t see myself buying one in the near future. If I was to start I’d just be talking about new releases instead of actually reviewing games. Maybe someone else could give me a hand with this one? Write some content?
DavidDunn.name
I just registered this as it’s my name and it’s a .name - no idea what I’ll do with it but maybe I’ll stick a portfolio on there or something in the near future.
AboutGardening.info
Was going to have a website discussing all aspects of gardening but not really on the top of my interests list. Would be willing to sell this if anyone is interested.
ComperBlog.co.uk
This one will be a blog about entering competitions both online and offline. This is something I have been interested in for some time now and would be good to post about competitions that people can enter alongside tips for entering competitions.
ComperForum.co.uk
This is designed to go alongside Comper Blog, where people can talk about competitions, entering competitions, new competitions etc.
NewcastleLad.com and .co.uk
This is going to be a blog about my local area; Newcastle. Will talk about goings on and up and coming events in the city of Newcastle.
There are a few additional domains that I am buying etc. at the moment but these will be things that I am just starting to think about - hence why I haven’t blogged about them. The above ideas are very much that - ideas! I’ll never do all of these at once and never intend to - one at a time works best for me.
If you are interested in purchasing any of the above domains, I may be interested in selling - drop me an email and we can discuss it.
Are there any ideas you’d like me to get started on straight away? Please leave a comment.
Would you like to follow these ideas more closely when I blog about them here? Follow my RSS feed to keep up-to-date.

Strange History of this Domain Name
Written by David Dunn on January 19, 2008 – 9:30 pmWhen checking out the Google Toolbar I discovered that this domain name (buymeaferrari.co.uk) has a Google Pagerank of PR2. As I had registered this from a registrar not from someone off a message board, I was interested in how it accrued PR2.
This led me to google buymeaferrari.co.uk which led to a whole range of interesting stuff.
The Sun Newspaper
Turns out, that in September 2005, this domain name was featured in The Sun, you can read the article here. Turns out the guy who had this domain had a website that asked members of the public to donate money to buy him a Ferrari. Not a bad idea when you think it made him £212.12 - not entirely sure on the time frame for that though.
Autoblog
Autoblog also wrote an article about the site, however, they weren’t as nice as The Sun were. Really made me chuckle. Read the article here.
Club Scuderia
On the Club Scuderia message boards, there was also this discussion on the subject and a debate about how the guy planned to pay for insurance/fuel etc.
Lexus Owners Club
Another message board in on the discussion was that of Lexus Owners Club. They were along the same lines as the rest, basically having a go at the guy for the website. However, I think that T7RY B hit the nail on the head, he may be regarded as a fruit cake, but he still made some cash with it!
Day of Defeat Forums
Dear… the guy who had buymeaferrari.co.uk definitely did create a bit of a stir! Here’s another message board talking about it.
And the rest…
As there seems to be loads, here’s a few more following the same lines:
- Fastdrive Born To Ride Forum
- ScoobyNet
- Get A Freelancer <– Someone wants a clone of it
- Tyresmoke
- Neowin
- Pistonheads
- SpikedHumor
So, I am very surprised at the history that I didn’t even know existed!! Suppose it’s good to have some backlinks before I even start.
Right… where will I put the donate button hehe!

Welcome
Written by David Dunn on January 18, 2008 – 11:03 amThank you very much for visiting Buy Me A Ferrari, hope you like what you see so far. I’m going to split this first post into a few headings first so that it is a little easier for everyone to read and secondly because it’s easier for me to write!
About Buy Me A Ferrari
I started Buy Me A Ferrari as a blog where I can talk about the money I am making from my websites and all of the different methods I am trying. Hopefully I will be successful!
As much as I do want to buy a Ferrari - that isn’t the goal of the blog, making enough money from this blog to buy me a Ferrari is very hopeful - would be great if I did eventually make enough money to buy one (and even more).
I will be blogging about the different methods I am using to make money and also telling you about how much money I am making and spending (hopefully there will be more of the making and less on the spending!)
What I have done so far
So far, I have just basically installed WordPress, the theme and a few plugins.
The plugins
The plugins that I currently have installed on Buy Me A Ferrari are as follows:
- Akismet - I have got to keep control of the spam somehow - my other blog (FerrariDave) has benefited massively from this plugin and would have its fair share of spam comments without it!
- All In One SEO Pack - I also have this installed on FerrariDave and I must admit, it has helped me bring in a lot more readers from Google and other search engines
- DoFollow - Makes the URLs in the comments DoFollow rather than NoFollow
- MaxBlogPress Stripe Ad - I quite like this idea as it doesn’t really affect your template and just sits at the top of the page. If you would like to advertise, that’s what I’m getting to right now…
Advertise
I am setting my ad prices relatively cheap as I am just starting this blog, but the traffic to the blog will increase and I will be posting about the traffic at the end of the month. My current prices for Buy Me A Ferrari are:
125×125 Above the fold ($15/month) - This price is pretty low, but may seem expensive for a blog with very little traffic - however, within the first month this traffic will go up quite quickly so it should be a safe investment. These ad boxes are above the fold and receive a lot more exposure than those below the fold.
125×125 Below the fold ($10/month) - Again, I have set this price very low - it’s lower than those above the fold as generally these ads will receive a little less exposure.
Stripe text ad ($4/month) - These prices are really low and will be limited to 5 links in rotation only. So realistically your ad will be seen by one in five visitors. Not only that but it’s right at the top of the page and will be the first thing a visitor sees as they enter Buy Me A Ferrari.
Sidebar text link ad ($5/month) - Again, such a low price. This is for a link on the sidebar towards the bottom of the page. This will be limited to ten links at any one time so that there aren’t too many and you are getting value for money.
If you would like to advertise on this new blog for the extraordinary prices above, please contact me: advertise@buymeaferrari.co.uk - the prices above are actually negotiable but as they are really low, I doubt that should be necessary.
Summary
I’m not going to bore you any further. My next blog post will be about bringing in traffic to Buy Me A Ferrari and how I plan to do it. Thanks for reading up to this point, please subscribe if you would like to keep reading about my journey.
