Entrecard
Written by David Dunn on January 23, 2008 – 9:32 pmAnother great source of traffic for both of my blogs has been Entrecard. An idea where you can swap virtual business cards, to other site owner in the form of 125×125 buttons.
Other members of Entrecard see your button on the Entrecard website and click through to drop their own card into your Entrecard dashboard.
Dropping your card on another blog with Entrecard installed earns you one credit and someone else dropping their card onto your dashboard also gives you a credit.
Now, these credits can be spent on advertising on other people’s Entrecard, not only this, but now they have implemented a shop where people sell various things like graphic design, templates, raffle tickets and more.
Does Entrecard bring me decent traffic?
Every time I begin to talk about Entrecard to other bloggers, whether it be on message boards or on MSN it always leads to a discussion as to whether the traffic from Entrecard brings decent traffic or not.
First of all, it does bring a lot of traffic to your blog, especially if you become popular on Entrecard. However, does this mean that the people who visit are visiting to read my posts or whether they are just coming to drop their card.
Whether or not it is decent is very much debatable but one thing can be said; Entrecard should still boost your Alexa rank a bit as visitors are visitors, doesn’t really matter whether they’re reading your content or not.
I personally always try to read at least the two most recent articles on the blogs I drop my card on - sometimes I find some decent stuff too. Unfortunately I can’t say whether or not people are doing the same in return. I’d like to say they were but there’s no way I’d bet my bank balance on it!
What do you think? Are you visiting from Entrecard? If so, thanks for actually reading some of my stuff - really do appreciate it. Leave a comment and let me know.

Hi David!
I’m here from EC and that is how I initially found your blog as well.
I gotta’ tell you. My Alexa ranking is much improved with the help of EC traffic. I mean MUCH improved!
I went from getting 5-6 average daily visits to something around 50-60 now (last time i looked!).
That is huge.
I was reading something by John Chow about getting too much traffic from one source. He watches for 30% from any one source then starts looking for other places. It’s just too easy to lose it all. John knows from experience.
I have taken this to heart and I have cultivated many other sources - there are a lot of new things out there you can do for your blog!
I added a bunch of those ScratchBack ads to my portfolio. I look for the $1 ads which last until they get pushed off of the list - UNLESS it’s a really well-performing site and they ask a little more.
I started looking into the Project Wonderful ads too. Some can be had for $0.00!
And then there are the kind souls out there like David with a great offer - and I got it in time!
Keep working on your traffic, AND your conversion. That is the part where you elicit some action from your visitors - whatever you are looking for.

Hi Pam
- Impressive comment before I even start!
Yup, great to see that someone found my blog via Entrecard and you are actively commenting and obviously reading.
Yup, if anyone is going to know, it’s going to be John Chow, I’d imagine he’s made his fair share of trial and improvement in his time!
I had those ScratchBack ads on my other blog but they weren’t really up to much, only had one slot purchased. Do you think it would be worth putting one here to give it a go?
Project Wonderful ads are great for both the advertiser and the publisher - I run them on both blogs and advertise through it too.
Thanks for the advice Pam, it’s always appreciated and great to hear from someone.

Hi, I visited your blog because today my Entrecard advert is running here (I know which ads are running from my Dashboard). Yes, I read your post, although initially I came here just to check my ad. But I found an interesting post. So, I read it.
